Homestead National Monument of America gives tribute to the homesteaders who settled the west, telling the story of their struggles and triumphs. This original poster is 11 by 15 inches, using one block in traditional black and white.
After a life-long experience as a do-it-yourselfer and woodworker, making practical items like furniture and toys, in 2012 Ben took a weekend workshop in woodblock printing at the North House Folk School in Grand Marais, Minnesota, with artist Nick Wroblewski. After that initial experience he has continued to learn new skills as a woodcut artist, taking his creative energies as a retired pastor into new artistic directions. More recently Ben has studied drawing and painting at Northern Michigan University and is a member of Lake Superior Art Association. He particularly enjoys subjects provided by landscapes and subjects wherever he is. Travelling in 2016 on the Rhine and Mosel Rivers he spent a relaxing hour or two each day creating...
